Wordpress 2.5.1 & SMF Forum – Bridge

comments track it back

English: No problems! The plugin works good with WP 2.5.1!

Once I activate the WP_SMF bridge from wordpress’s side, I immediately get kicked out of the site, and is unable to log in.

2. gumfi | 30. Mai 2008 | 14:46

erm… that’s not so good… ;)
wich version of wordpress (and smf) runnin on your system?

3. Yaron Assa | 31. Mai 2008 | 08:15

SMF 1.1.5
WP 2.5.1

Only installed the WP -> SMF side (the other way doesn’t interest me so much).

4. GreenA | 04. Juli 2008 | 08:24

SMF 1.1.4
WP 2.5.1
unable to log in.

I’ve found out the problem!
It has nothing to do with cookies or wordpress 2.5, but with the sql connection in the api.

In smf_api_1.1.php, in line 166 we should change:
@mysql_connect($db_server, $db_user, $db_passwd)

to:
@mysql_connect($db_server, $db_user, $db_passwd, true)

This will prevent the SMF bridge from hogging the sql connection, thus allowing for wordpress to keep on running as usual

I have installed the WP_SMF 1.09 plugin in Wordpress as described in your readme file.

But how do I install your SMF_Wordpress plugin?

7. Newbie | 21. Juli 2008 | 12:02

Sorry for my newbie question. SMF_Wordpress is of course a Mod for SMF. Stupid me ;-)

8. Prospero | 05. August 2008 | 15:23

I just need to say that you are awesome, man! Thanks a lot for this, keep up the good work.

So I’ve got everything setup, but I’m not seeing any integration: what should I be looking for? I was hoping to see, for example, a new SMF thread created when a Wordpress post was made, or to see WP comments replaced with an SMF thread.

I don’t care about user integration, at least not yet.

10. vicky | 06. August 2008 | 21:52

Does it work with WP 2.6?
I’ve been searching for a proper forum to integrate with WP2.6 for days…

11. Prospero | 09. August 2008 | 17:45

vicky, it is working with WP 2.6 for me. I’ve got WP 2.6 and SMF 1.1.5.

Hello there…

Just a simple question…

Is there a way to import ALL post and comments from SMF to WP with this plugin?

Thnaks in advance for your time

Mein Setup:
Wordpress 2.6 mit WP_SMF 1.09
und SMF 1.1.5 mit der hier präsentierten Version.

Ich habe in der wp-config auch den Secure-Code etc. in die SMF_Wordpress.php eingetragen …

14. Soulgirl | 19. August 2008 | 18:40

Hello there… can you help me? I installed your SMF plugin to smf v1.1.5 and wordpress v2.6.1

On trying to register on the wordpress I get this error:
WordPress database error:
SELECT * FROM wp_wpsmf_users WHERE user_id = '8' AND meta_key = 'Smf_User_ID'

WordPress database error:
INSERT INTO wp_wpsmf_users ( user_id, meta_key, meta_value ) VALUES ( '8', 'Smf_User_ID', '6' )
Can you help?

Karen x

15. Soulgirl | 19. August 2008 | 18:45

Oh, by the way… it does register new members on both wordpress and smf but because the above error comes up people might keep trying or worse, not come back. I’ve turned off the wordpress plug in for now.

16. Jamie | 28. August 2008 | 15:43

What should of been a simple process has given me a headache. SMF can pick up the package fine, however WP 2.5.1 & 2.6.1 cant seem to see this plugin….

Im stumped, Im sure you didn’t code it wrong. I’m using the same versions as everyone else but the plugins directory wont show the SMF_Wordpress.php file. I’ve cleared Cache and Cookies just incase but nothing.

If you have any ideas on why it’s not showing that would be great. I need this plugin so bad, just to map users to our forum.

Thanks Gumfi =D

17. Neil | 03. September 2008 | 19:08

SMF_Wordpress isn’t a Wordpress plugin. You shouldn’t put it in your Plugins directory. Instead go to the SMF admin interface, go to the “Packages” section, and upload the zipfile there.

18. gumfi | 17. September 2008 | 10:30

the smf plugin you find above, only works with WP 2.5.1… the cookies for login in wp 2.6++ are different…

Hey All,
This sounds like a fantastic project and I’d love to get it to work, but so far I haven’t been able to;

I tried this without luck, did I miss any steps?
Installed clean WP 2.5.1
Installed Clean SMF 1.1.5
Imported my data into SMF 1.1.5
Installed WP_SMF_1.09
Setup WP_SMF_1.09 to copy users into wp
Installed smf_wordpress_1.25.1 into SMF 1.1.5

All these steps went without errors, but I still can’t login WP and be automatically logged into the forum or vice versa.
Has anybody got this to work? am I missing a step?

Thanks heaps,
Regards,
Callan

22. gumfi | 15. Oktober 2008 | 15:21

what about the secret-key?!
define a key in wordpress (wp-config.php) and copy the defined key into “YourSMFForum/Sources/SMF_Wordpress.php” at line 17 …

define(’SECRET_KEY’, ‘put your unique phrase here’);

sorry, but my english is very baaad ;)

i hope it works…greetings

gumfi;
this is really a great plugin! thank you.
i am using this with wpmu + smf1.1.6 — the integration works ok on MSIE, flock, firefox2: but i cannot login when using firefox3 and chrome. the login is returned with no error, but that i am still not logged in if using these browsers.

i hope you can help me here. thanks again.

Nice plugin, I’m using Wordpress.2.7 and SMF 1.1.7. So far all is working perfectly. Thank you for doing the work I can’t:-) Will you be keeping this upto date? SMF 2.0 is in beta 4 now and should be ready for production sites soon. Will the current plugin work? Or are we going to have to wait for an update?

Again thanks.

Rocknlnx

27. af3 | 17. Februar 2009 | 16:42

Rocknlnx, any specific changes you made to the cokkies setting in both?
I am using this+wp2.7 and so far all ok except that when a user log out from forum, the user is still logged in wp.

28. af3 | 26. Februar 2009 | 21:08

Opps.. actually wpmu2.7 and this plugin doesnt work well. Users are able to register ok, but only in wp database and not in smf database.

If i clicked manually the “Repair user link” in the dashboard, then only then users are synchronized in smf.

This is the same plugin that works ok in wpmu2.6 and smf1.1.4. not sure what has changed after wpmu 2.7 upgrade.

pls help.

29. RoyalC | 03. Mai 2009 | 02:30
